What is Advent?
At the Neighborhood Church, we will join the worldwide, historic Christian Church in observing Advent.
Alongside our weekly worship and Christmas Eve services, we have additional resources we’ll be using, including a curated Advent playlist, devotional, Isaiah Advent Guide by Paul Tripp, Advent Meditation, and 25-Day Poetry Experience, which will assist us in stepping into this season of longing and anticipation.
Christmas Eve Service
God sent His Son to be born in a barn, so we know He doesn’t mind “messy.” In response, every year, we celebrate Christmas Eve in a stable. Yes, horses…goats…hay…and all the true aromas of Christmas! Join us for a truer Christmas experience, December 24 3 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. at 5400 S Alkire St, Littleton, CO 80127 (see map).
Don’t forget, it’s an open barn (with some heat), but bundle up and bring warm blankets.
Advent Guide and Playlist
Our Advent Guide contains five weeks of material, with both a study to complete on your own as well as a plan to help our families talk about the Advent narrative together. The family portions are designed to work for families of all shapes and sizes and do not require extensive preparation. Either portion of the guide can also be used to facilitate discussion within your Home Group or with friends, roommates or other community.
Even if you know the Advent narrative well, don’t rush past what God has for you in this season. For many, this may be the first time to consider all that God is saying through the birth of His Son. For others, it will be an opportunity to rediscover the way God intimately works in the details of life for His glory and the good of man. For all of us, may this season be one marked by hope, expectation, remembrance and worship. The King has come and is coming! There is much to celebrate!
